Understanding the process can help you prepare for this difficult time. Some appointments may vary from this plan based on medical or behavioral needs.
After you book online or call us, we'll reach out to confirm your appointment time and answer any questions you may have. We will also send a payment link ahead of time so we can focus on your pet during the appointment.
Dr. Bays will arrive at your home at the scheduled time. She'll take a few minutes to meet you and your pet and allow them to become comfortable with her. We'll confirm aftercare options including cremation services and memorial keepsakes.
Dr. Bays will administer a sedative to ensure your pet is completely relaxed and comfortable. Most pets drift peacefully into a sleep-like state within 10-20 minutes.
You'll have time to say goodbye to your pet in your own way as they fall asleep. There's no rush—we work on you and your pet's timeline. Both human and furry family members are welcome to be present, and you can hold your pet if you wish.
Once your pet is fully sedated and peaceful, Dr. Bays will administer the final medication. Your pet will pass gently and painlessly. You can stay with your pet for as long as you need afterward. This is a good time for privacy or to allow your other pets time to say goodbye.
Aftercare: Dr. Bays will carefully prepare your pet for transport if you've chosen cremation services.
We're here to help you through every step of this journey.
